Today I will be discussing my PC setup. It’s not over the top, crazy expensive but good enough for my working and gaming needs. (currently running BF1 at ultra settings at 1080p 60hz) Maybe soon I’ll upgrade to an ultrawide 144hz monitor with a better GPU. But for now, this will do. The build was quite simple. I decided to go with a Corsair Carbide 100R tower. Its basic, non flashy, very minimal design. I don’t have a DVD or CD drive installed. Don’t see the point in needing one as everything is digital and can be uploaded\/downloaded from\u00a0the cloud now anyway. I do have a USB DVD drive that I can quickly connect if I need it. The case came with fans ready to go but I decided to get the Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition fans and swap them out.<\/p>\n

Inside I have an MSI Z170A SLI Plus motherboard. It wasn’t that expensive, and looks very pretty. I wanted to go with an all black\/dark theme for the internals so this was a must have.<\/p>\n
For RAM I went with the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 RAM kit. 16GB total. (2x8GB sticks) at 3200Mhz.<\/p>\n
The CPU is an overclockable Intel Core i5 6600k Skylake processor. I was going to go with the i7 but wanted to keep the price down. This CPU works quite well and is suitable for my computing and gaming needs.<\/p>\n
The CPU cooler was pretty cheap. I chose the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.<\/p>\n
The GPU that I decided to get was the EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. Again, I didn’t want to go with something outrageously expensive, just something that I can use to play Battlefield One at ultra settings at 1080p.<\/p>\n
The power supply was the only component that I had brought over from my last build. I admit that I do need to upgrade it to a modular one but this will do for now. Its a Thermaltake TR2 600Watt PSU.<\/p>\n
The OS resides on a 256GB SSD while the main storage is on a 1TB hybrid drive. I also installed another 256GB SSD for my games. (I’m seriously considering dualbooting Windows with Ubuntu or some other linux distro)<\/p>\n
I currently have two Dell e2414hm monitors that are attached to a monitor stand.<\/p>\n
The peripherals used include a\u00a0Razor keyboard, mouse and headphones.<\/p>\n
This bad boy is quiet and runs cool!<\/p>\n
